Hello, Parents!
We are almost done with September! Students worked hard this week preparing for their Math Test and getting into reading and writing each day. Lastly, one of the biggest goals for students is to stay organized and to gain responsibility by taking and bringing back school materials every night. This goal is a constant reminder in the classroom, and with enough practice, I hope the students will get in the groove by the end of September! Here are some announcements for next week: Students need to wear their ID Cards and DOG Tags every day. They are allowed to keep them at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. **Students do need headphones and computer mice for class every day. Please send in plug-in headphones and mice (not Bluetooth) for your student starting Monday, September 30th.** Planners: Please sign the planner every day! Math: Today, students took their first part of the Math Test. We will be continuing Unit 1 on Monday with Lesson 1.9. Remember, students can use their math review, homelinks, math journal pages, and math boxes to study all unit long. I have included the Family Letter for the unit and the answers to the homelinks in our Google Classroom. Also, if your student is absent, all the lesson videos are on Google Classroom. Reading/Writing: Students worked on making Reading Goals, previewing books, and sticky noting. Students will be taking their reading binder home and to school every day from now on. Students are also working on Power Up (Lexia) and reading for AR points. Remember, they are only reading one book! This book is the same book they read at home and school. Science: Students wrote their first CERER by picking their favorite Pixar Short, finding evidence to prove it’s the best, and using their reasoning to support why the evidence supports the claim. We also practiced identifying and writing CERER. Social Studies: Students are learning about the Constitution. Homework: Reading for 20 minutes with filling out the reading log Parent to-do list:
