Hello, Parents!
We had a fabulous week working with book clubs, getting ready for our science test, meeting Dr. Outlaw and asking him questions about his job, and celebrating our 2nd place win for the Canned Food Prix with a hot cocoa bar! For Math, Unit 2 retakes for division will be on Wednesday, December 20th. Test Corrections will be due on Monday, December 18th. Retake permission slips were sent home yesterday! We will be having a Unit 3 Test sometime next week. Please let me know if you plan to be absent any time next week. For ELA, we are still working on book clubs. Students have a schedule of what pages must be read by certain dates in their ELA Binder. Students will be reading their book club book AND their AR book. They are only reading their book club to the page required by their book club meeting date. Please do not have your child read on. Students must make 1 to 2 sticky notes while reading their book club each time. This will help increase participation in book club conversations. Here are some announcements for next week: Spirit Week Days: Monday, December 18th - Holiday Plaid Day Tuesday, December 19th - Holiday Sock Day Wednesday, December 20th - Holiday Hat Day Thursday, December 21st - Favorite Holiday Colors Day Friday, December 22nd - Holiday Sweater or Favorite Holiday Outfit No School for Winter Break is from Saturday, December 23, to Sunday, January 7th. I will see everyone back at school on Monday, January 8th. Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We are working on Unit 3, which is Fractions. Please refer to the Google Classroom for the Math Videos for each lesson, homelinks, and family letter. Reading/Writing: We are working on Book Clubs! Final Thought boxes are due on Wednesday! Science: We took our test about Zebra Mussels today. Homework: Thought Boxes are due Wednesday, Homelink 3.6, read for 20 minutes, and fill out the reading log. Parent To-Do list:
If you have any questions, then please email me at [email protected]. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Mrs. Orrico
