Happy Friday Families!
We had a three-day week this week, but we got some learning and fun in! We finished our figurative language unit for ELA by taking the quiz on Tuesday. Some students have an opportunity to retake the quiz, so please check with your students to see if they need to. Also, we are starting to work on sticky notes again and writing Write Longers. Students received a Write Longer Bookmark today to help them with sticky notes in their books. Students should be writing 1 to 2 sticky notes per reading session. I have assigned a Write Longer for them to do for their silent reading book, due Friday, January 26th. For Math, we are working on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers, turning improper fractions into mixed numbers, and looking at fractions as division problems. If you want to learn more about what we are learning, I have put the family letter on Google Classroom. We will test for the rest of Unit 3 on Friday, January 26th. Also, the Unit 3 Math test went home yesterday. Test corrections are due on Monday for students who want to retake portions of the test who got a 70% or below. Remember, students must make corrections to their test with a different colored pencil or on a separate piece of paper AND get the Retake Ticket signed by an adult to retake it. For Science, we will be testing on Go With The Flow Cycle 2 on Thursday, January 25th. Students can study using their notes in their science notebook, science packet, and science Google Slides for Lessons 1-6 on Google Classroom. All assignments are under “Go With The Flow Cycle 2 Unit”. Remember, if you are absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments are on Google Classroom, along with all the Math Lesson videos and novel study read-aloud videos. Here are some announcements for next week: No School on Monday, January 29th Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We are still working on Unit 3! Please make sure students are keeping their homelinks to study for the test. The test will be on Friday, January 26th. Reading/Writing: Students will work on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading, and we will learn about Text Structure next week. There will be reading home next week, so please be aware of them. Science: Go With The Flow Cycle 2 on Google Classroom. The test will be on Thursday. Homework: Homelink 3.11, start working on Write Longer (CERER), Social Studies HW, read for 20 minutes, and fill out the reading log. Parent To-Do list:
