Hello Families!
We have eight more wake-ups until the Last Day of School! Next week, we still have a whole week of school, so we will have our Unit 7 test. There will be no retakes for this test. Also, we will finish up book clubs next week! Students will also start Poetry next week, and we will end our final few days with a Poetry Slam, where they will memorize a poem and create a dance of at least some movements that will go with their poems and perform it in front of the class. AR Points are due Friday, June 7th. I have also put the grades into Student Connect so you can see how they affect your student’s grade. Also, I have put most of the grades in for all the subjects. Reading and Writing grades are put together under the Reading Grade. Please email me if you have any questions. Remember, if your student is absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments, all the Math Lesson videos, and ELA assignments are on Google Classroom. Here are some announcements for next week: Reproductive Health Days are Thursday, June 6th, and Friday, June 7th. Thursday, June 6th, will be the PTO Magic /Science Assembly. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: This week, we continued our learning in Unit 7. Today, students took the formative test to see how they progressed through the unit. We will have one more lesson on Monday, then review for the test on Tuesday, and the Unit 7 test will be on Wednesday, June 5th. Reading/Writing: Students do great with their Book Club conversations! The fourth set of sticky notes and the fourth assignment are due on Monday, June 3rd! Students are still working on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading. AR Goals are due Friday, June 7th! Science: Students have been learning about gravity and air resistance and how they work against each other to slow falling objects. They created parachutes to see which prototype would be the best for a skydiver (Lego Man). It was great to see their creativity and engineering skills come to life. Homework: Students should read their Book Club book, finish their sticky notes and Book Club assignment #4, and read for AR by completing the reading log! Parent To-Do List:
If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend! Mrs. Orrico
