Hello, Parents!
I want to say thank you to the families I met with this week. It was a pleasure meeting you and discussing your student progress this year. This week, students started Unit 2, which is all about Place Value. Please go onto Google Classroom this weekend to see the family letter, homelinks, and additional resources provided for Unit 2. Also, students worked on CERER and their narrative stories. Also, regarding technology, students will need access to a computer at home to do Social Studies assignments and other subject-related activities. Please log into Google Classroom, Clever, and TCI (the social studies curriculum) at home. Please email me with any questions! I am looking forward to seeing student’s writing as we complete them next week. This might be an opportunity for you to ask your students about the personal story they are writing about in class. Here are some announcements for next week: We will be celebrating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31st. Our day will consist of math games, spooky writing, and reading, and we will end our day with a movie—just a reminder: Students can not wear their costumes to school. We are asking for materials for the games we will play and treat donations during the movie. If you can donate any items, we would greatly appreciate it! Donations will be used for both classes! Thank you in advance for donating items! Halloween Sign Up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4BADA629A6F8C07-45642320-halloween Students need to be wearing their ID Cards and DOG Tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. **Students do need headphones and computer mice for class every day. Please send in plug-in headphones and mice (not Bluetooth) for your student starting Monday, October 30th** Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We started Unit 2. Please go onto Google Classroom for all the Unit 2 resources, including the family letter, homelinks, all lesson videos, and additional videos to help at home. Reading/Writing: We are working on CERER and Narrative Writing. Science: We are continuing our learning of food webs, food chains, ecosystems, and the components of an ecosystem. We will be starting a biome project next week. Homework: Math Journal page 43, study for social studies test on Tuesday, do paragraph 2 and 3 of narrative, Read for 20 minutes, and fill out the reading log. Parent To Do list:
