Hello Parents,
Another week of school has passed, and another week of MSTEP testing is done! We have one last MSTEP test to take, which is Math. Please look below at what days we have that test. We will review and learn new concepts with our Math unit to prepare for the test. If students would like to prepare, then they can take practice tests at http://www.prepdog.org/5th-grade.htm Spring is here, and student energy levels are high. We had an assembly this week for students to review the expectations for behavior in school. Remember, we are a “No-Hands” school, meaning students should not touch other students. Please make sure you review the school's rules and your expectations for them to finish the school year strong. Also, with Spring comes warmer weather. Please make sure students are dressed appropriately for school. Here is the Maltby’s Student Handbook for reference: Maltby Student Handbook https://www.brightonk12.com/cms/lib/MI02209968/Centricity/Domain/8/MIS%20handbook%20revised%2012-2020.pdf Thank you to all parents who donated items for our Earth Day activity and treat. It was a nice reward after MSTEP testing. The students created products from plastic bags. We had student groups create clothes, window currents, and accessories. It was a great afternoon in fifth grade! Here are some announcements: End of the School Year Events:

Hello Parents,
This week we wrap up units in Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am very proud of the work that they have done in class! You should be too! Remember we do have the MSTEP Social Studies on Monday and MSTEP Science on Wednesday. Please make sure students get a good night’s sleep and a breakfast in the morning, so students can try their best on the test! On Monday, April 24th, I plan to do an Earth Day Activity with the students. I would love to give a special treat to our students, so I am asking for help from our families to donate items to make dirt cups! If you can donate items, please sign up using this link: Earth Day 2023 Donation Sign Up Please read the information for the sign-up because I will need families from both classrooms to sign up! If your student has any allergies to the following items: chocolate pudding, Oreos, or gummy worms, please email me at [email protected], and we can make the appropriate arrangements so that all students can enjoy the treat!
