Hello Parents,
Yay! We finally made it to Spring Break! This week the students worked hard to test the first portion of Unit 5. Also, we started getting ready for MSTEP by learning to take notes when reading an article and then using the notes to fill out a graphic organizer to write an essay. Finally, students wrote a compare and contrast essay on two books with a common theme. If you want to read your student’s paper, look on Google Classroom under “Comparing Themes Essay.” Please take this break as a week to relax and reenergize for the last push of school before summer! Here is some information for the week after Spring Break: No School on Friday, April 7th, and Monday, April 10th. MSTEP Testing Dates:
Report Cards will be coming home today, Friday, March 24th. Grades are on Parent Connect. Check them out now, and please email me with any questions. Spring Break is From Monday, March 27th, to Friday, March 31st. I will see everyone back at school on Monday, April 3rd. Planners: Please sign the planner for every day! Math: We are on Unit 5, which is on Fractions with the four operations. Homelinks are on Google Classroom. Reading/Writing: Students will be getting ready for MSTEP reading and writing. We will read many articles and answer questions based on what we read. Also, students will work on various evidence-based writing (paragraph writing). Science: We moved on to our next Unit: Changes. We will be working in Science Groups, so students must work with other students on Science experiments and writing activities. Social Studies: Look on Mrs. Krayer’s Google Classroom for social studies for all assignments. Homework: No homework (If you can read four times during the week of Spring Break, then that would be great!) Parent to-do list:
If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. I hope everyone has a great spring break! Sincerely, Miss Vuichard

Hello Parents,
Welcome to the last Trimester! We officially are in the last portion of the school year. I can’t believe how fast the past two trimesters went! Also, we are five more wake-ups from Spring Break! We can do it! This week we had NWEA testing. Students did a great job trying their personal best and being quiet while others finished. Also, students need to remember to bring their planners to school. I see a lot of students without it. Students need to get it signed by a parent every day. Please remember that students need to be responsible and show you their planners every day! It might be a good idea to come up with a system for when they can show you their planner for you to sign it. Here is some information for next week: Author’s Visit on Monday, March 20th! Students did a great job trying their personal best and being quiet while others finished. NWEA MATH Testing is next week! Students will be taking the Math NWEA on Wednesday, March 15th. If your student is absent, please email me so I can arrange for your student to take the test at a different time and date. On testing days, ensure students get enough sleep and have a morning breakfast. This routine will help your student to be successful! If you like some practice tests, check out prepdog.com. After a short week of school last week, we finally had a full week. This week we dive deep into our Nonfiction Unit, learning about Topics, Main Ideas, and Supporting details. Students will continue working on these concepts as we work through the last three and ½ months of school. Also, students do a great job completing their homelinks and math boxes for Unit 5. I will continue to assign Math Boxes to help students build confidence in the math skills that they have learned this year, so they are ready for NWEA and MSTEP. NWEA Testing is coming! Students will be testing on Tuesday, March 7th, for the Reading NWEA and taking the Math NWEA on Wednesday, March 15th. If your student is away from those days, please email me so I can arrange for your student to take the test at a different time and date.
