Hello Parents,
A short week full of assessments. We have officially ended Unit 3 and are moving on to Unit 4. The homelinks will be on Google Classroom. We will learn decimals and how to add, subtract, and round them. We will also work on coordinate grids. For ELA, please keep students reading at home! We are two months away from the end of the trimester, and it is a good idea to keep ahead of their AR goal now so they are not worried about it when it is March. Starting on Monday, students will need to 20 units of Power Up (Lexia) and pass 2 lessons on Imagine Math to participate in DOGS Reward on Fridays. This goal is a new reward system that most 5th Grade classes are doing. I have seen great growth in students understanding concepts in Math and excelling in reading foundations by using both of these programs. Students do have time to work on these new goals in school. But they may have to do it at home as well. Please talk to your student about how they can achieve this goal. It will start on Monday! Here is some information for next week: Remember No School on Monday, January 30th. Planners: Please sign the planner for every day! Math: We are done with unit 3. I will be giving the test back next week. We will be doing retakes next week as well. Unit 4 Homelinks will be on Google Classroom. Reading/Writing: We are still working on our figurative language unit. We will be doing more Write Longers on our AR book. Also, students have reading goals for AR points, so please ensure your student is reading at home. Science: We are getting back on track with Science. There will be projects coming next week. Social Studies: Look on Mrs. Krayer’s Google Classroom for social studies for all assignments. Homework: Homelink 4.1, alliteration worksheet (both sides), SS Unit 4 Test review (due Wednesday), read for 20 minutes, and write it in the reading log. Parent to-do list:
If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. Sincerely, Miss Vuichard
