Hello, Parents!
This week we took the Science and Social Studies MSTEP. We also learned about hooks and endings to make our argumentative essays better than before. In math, students are halfway through the unit. They took a formative test on Monday, so see how they are doing in the first half of this unit. Check with your student to see how they did. Also, students should be reading for 20 minutes every night. So please make sure students are filling out their reading logs each night. Also, please read the information about DOGS Tags. These tags will be a daily item that students will need to have. Here are some announcements for next week: Talent Show on Thursday, May 5th at 6 pm! Donuts for two dollars are happening next Friday, May 6th! Field Day Tuesday, June 14th! MSTEP Testing Dates:

DOGS Tags are starting to be used every day at school. They need them for walking in the hallway, library, lunch, intramurals, and DOGS Recess/Rewards. Students will be staying in for DOGS Recess/Rewards if they do not have their DOGS Tag for the listed activities above! We are looking for a Class Donation of Pencils and Expo Markers! We are running low, and we use them every day. So please donate if you can! Students now have the responsibility of using their lockers. Please practice their combination at home. Also, students should have a homework folder that they will bring to school each day. This folder should contain their reading log, homelinks, math journal, and other homework. If you have any questions, email me. Parents! what you need to sign this week:
Parent Connect/Gradebooks: Parents, you can start checking Parent Connect to see what assignments your student is missing or incomplete and see what they have received on homework and test. For missing assignments, I would suggest showing your students what the assignment is and looking for it in their backpack, desk, or locker. If they can’t find it, please tell me to make a new copy. Students could also check their grades using Student Connect if they didn’t know. This can be found on the Brighton Area Schools website under “I am a Student.” Please email me if you have any questions. Absent Students: Please look on Google Classroom for Assignments and Homework that you missed. Planners: Please sign the planner every day! Math: Halfway through the unit. Please make sure your student is doing the homelinks when assigned. We are looking at possible test dates for the first week of May. Reading/Writing: Students are working on their argumentative writing piece about if cell phones should or should not be in the classroom. They are planning to have these typed out by Friday, May 6th. Science: Students are studying matter and its properties. Students created a comic for one of the topics we learned in class. Watch their video on Google Classroom. Social Studies: Please check Mrs. Krayer’s Classroom for absent work and use the TCI website through Clever. Clever Apps to do at home:
