Hello Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break! This week we started reviewing some reading and writing strategies for MSTEP. For MSTEP, students do need corded headphones for testing. If your student would like to bring their corded headphones, please have them bring them to school on testing days (dates are listed below.) We are taking the ELA MSTEP on Tuesday. Please ensure your student gets a good night of sleep and has breakfast that morning so they can write an essay that day. Here are some announcements: No School on Friday, April 7th, and Monday, April 10th. MSTEP Testing Dates (bring corded headphones are these days):
MSTEP Practice Sample Items Directions:
Math: We are on Unit 5, which is on Fractions with the four operations. Homelinks are on Google Classroom. Reading/Writing: Students will be getting ready for MSTEP reading and writing. We will read many articles and answer questions based on what we read. Also, students will work on various evidence-based writing (paragraph writing). Science: We moved on to our next Unit: Changes. We will be working in Science Groups, so students must work with other students on Science experiments and writing activities. Social Studies: Look on Mrs. Krayer’s Google Classroom for social studies for all assignments. Homework: Read for 20 minutes and log it in Reading Log. Feel free to do some ELA MSTEP preparation using the directions above (MSTEP Practice Sample Items), or students could do practice reading quizzes at http://www.prepdog.org/5th-grade.htm. Parent to-do list:
