Hello Families!
A full week of school and the students are working hard on some projects! Students are working on Comics about Matter in Science. We will record these at school and turn them into Google Classroom next week, so ask your students to show you! Also, our first Book Club Meeting was AMAZING! Students came ready to discuss their book using sticky notes and assignment #1. This book club focuses on Character Traits. Please ask your student to share information about their book club with you! Remember, if your student is absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments, all the Math Lesson videos, and ELA assignments are on Google Classroom. Here are some announcements for next week: No School on Monday, May 27th Thursday, June 6th, will be the PTO Magic /Science Assemblies Friday, June 7th, is Red, White, and Blue Spirit Day Tuesday, June 11th is Field Day- Wear a Classroom T-shirt! Last Day of School is on Wednesday, June 12th Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: This week, we dove into Unit 7 and started working on some geometry. Also, students who took the retake for Unit 6 will get those back on Monday. Remember that all homelinks and the family letter for the unit are on Google Classroom. The McGraw Hill app has many games students can play at home to practice their skills. Reading/Writing: The Book Club discussions were excellent! The students did an awesome job discussing their thoughts and character traits. The second set of sticky notes and the second assignment are due on Tuesday, May 21st! Students are still working on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading. AR Goals are due Friday, June 7th! Science: Students worked on their Matter Comic this week. The comics will be due on Monday. Students did take the Changes Cycle 2 Test.
