Hello Families!
Another week of 5th grade went by, and we finally hit the six-week mark of school! Students worked hard this week to finish up Unit 6 in Math. Also, students had some fun analyzing Disney Cartoons to find common archetypes. This week, we started our Student of The Day celebration! Every day, students get to pick two things they would like to do as Student of the Day. I believe the students are excited about their day, and it’s a way to celebrate their success as 5th graders! Remember, if your student is absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments, all the Math Lesson videos, and ELA assignments are on Google Classroom. Here are some announcements for next week: MSTEP Testing Dates
Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We finished Unit 6 and took the test! We are doing some math practice to prepare for the MSTEP Math Test on Monday. We will be starting Unit 7 next week! Remember that all homelinks and the family letter for the unit are on Google Classroom. The McGraw Hill app has many games students can play at home to practice their skills. Reading/Writing: Students learned about common archetypes in fictional stories. We will be moving on to Character Traits and then starting Book Clubs. Students are still working on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading. AR Goals are due Friday, June 7th! Science: Students will be starting Changes Cycle 2 on Monday! Homework: Two Science questions in packet, Math Packet Problems #39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 49, 52, 55, 58, 60, 63, 69, 74, 80,82, work on SS review, and read for AR - 20 minutes with a reading log.
