Hello Families!
This week was a short week filled with reading, answering questions, and writing. Students are doing an excellent job with their stamina in writing an opinion essay with facts to back it up! They will be editing their work soon and typing it next week. Remember, if your student is absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments, all the Math Lesson videos, and ELA assignments are on Google Classroom. Here are some announcements for next week: Book Fair from Monday, April 15th to Friday, April 19th Preview and Set Up Your E-Wallet with this link. MSTEP Testing Dates
Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We finished Unit 5, and retakes will be on Wednesday, April 17th. We are starting Unit 6. Also, remember that all homelinks and the family letter for the unit are on Google Classroom. The McGraw Hill app has many games students can play at home to practice their skills. Reading/Writing: Students continued writing their Opinion Paper this week. All daily writing assignments are on Google Classroom for students to refer back to. We will continue writing, revising, and editing this writing for the next two weeks. Students are still working on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading. AR Goals are due Friday, June 7th! Science: Students finished Changes Cycle 1 this week. For the next week and a half, we will be reading and writing to prepare for the MSTEP ELA Test. Homework: If your student is retaking the Unit 5 test, make corrections on the test and get the retake ticket signed by a parent, do Homelink 6.1, and read for 20 minutes with a reading log.
