Happy Friday Families!
Please check your student's grades! These are the grades if the semester ended today. There is still time for students to improve their grades. You should check your student's AR goals and comprehension grades. These grades impact the reading grades significantly, so it is essential to see if your student is on track. Final grades will be in Mistar by Friday, March 22nd. For Math, we are rounding and comparing decimals, coordinating grids, and plotting ordered pairs. The Math Journal, which includes the lessons and math boxes, is a great resource to review these skills. Also, remember all homelinks and the family letter for the unit are on Google Classroom. For ELA, students learn about the theme of the lesson the author wants the reader to learn from the story. Students will identify the theme in stories and support their choices with evidence from the story. Look on Google Classroom for resources! For science, students learned about physical and chemical changes to prepare for our Changes Unit. Remember, this is the last weekend to work on the Scientific Method Project. The project will be due on Friday, March 1st. Remember, if you are absent, please look at Google Classroom. Most of the time, I put what we did on there. Plus, most science assignments are on Google Classroom, along with all the Math Lesson videos and novel study read-aloud videos. Here are some announcements for next week: We have had many students not write in their planners correctly, which is causing communication problems with what homework to do, which can also lead to students not turning in homework assignments on time. Therefore, please talk with your students about how they are doing with assignments and turning them in. Also, please make sure you are checking the planner and Google Classroom for all assignments. Students need to wear their ID cards and DOG tags every day. They are allowed to keep them here at school. This protocol is essential since Maltby is so big that if all students have their cards and tags on them, we can identify them in passing times. Planners: Please sign the planner for Friday! Math: We are on Unit 4: Decimals. There are many games on the McGraw Hill app that students can play at home to practice their skills. Reading/Writing: Students are still working on reading for AR points and writing sticky notes while reading. Science: Chemical and Physical Changes. Homework: Decimal Worksheet and Math Journal page 143, Lesson 5 Vocabulary for SS, work on Scientific Method Project, read for 20 minutes, and fill out the reading log. Parent To-Do List:
If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Mrs. Orrico
